We are special we are aware of you!

Our school participated in the eTwinning-European Learning Communities project entitled “We are Special, We are Aware of You” with the aim of promoting awareness and acceptance of diversity among students. Through interactive activities and collaborations with schools in Turkey and Lithuania, our students had the opportunity to discover the value of mutual understanding and respect for all people, regardless of their differences. The programme strengthened students’ communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills, working effectively in international teams, while familiarising them with various digital tools and platforms, developing skills that are essential in modern times. The fruit of our joint effort is the creation of our newspaper with articles, photos and interviews, reflecting the experiences and lessons learned of all the students who worked together. This newspaper is a valuable account of our journey and a living testimony to the progress and achievements of our students. The students of sections A2, A3 and A5 and the teachers Gerouki Angeliki – PE08, Haritos Evangelos – PE80 and Triantafyllou Marina – PE80 participated.Click here to see our newspaper.

Cultural Programme Images and Words

Within the framework of the Cultural Programme “Images and Words”, the participating students worked interdisciplinary, marrying the Visual Arts with Speech and Language Therapy. They each created their own handmade book, with the theme that each stood out. Along the way, they explored the world of animals and the categories of fruit, enriched their descriptive language with the use of adjectives and created small clay works, as well as images using various visual techniques (collage, drawing, painting with markers and tempera, etc.).

The pedagogical objectives achieved were the students:

-To produce handmade books on the theme of animals and fruits.

-Experiment with different materials.

-Experiment with a variety of techniques in the context of the visual arts.

-To improve speech production and comprehension.

-Group animals and fruits according to their particular characteristics.

The programme was coordinated by Iphigenia Avramopoulou (PE08-Cultural Arts) and implemented together with the responsible VET/educators Evangelia Kanellopoulou (PE21-Logotherapy) and Georgia Tzianara (PE02-New Language).

Construction in the recreational park “Hippocampus”.

On Thursday 30 May our school visited the recreation park “Hippocamelos” in Sagaiika, Achaia. This park has a zoo and is home to many species of animals and birds. The children and the teachers were fascinated by the animals and the surrounding area. We sat in a specially designed outdoor area and ate our lunch under the shade of the trees. We were then taken on a tour of the zoo where we saw rare chicken, buffalo, hawks , peacocks , parrots , lambs , deer and deer but also camels, llamas, lions, tigers, monkeys and alligators. At the same time, as many children as wanted to ride with the help of trained staff and other children fed the animals with appropriate feed that we obtained from the park itself. It was a beautiful experience for all of us.

Erasmus+: exemplary dissemination teaching on “Nature and Emotions”

On Wednesday 29/5/24 an exemplary teaching based on the training conducted by members of the erasmus+ pedagogical team in Finland took place in our school.

More specifically, the teachers Asimina Riga PE02 and Georgia Tzianara PE02 in order to disseminate good practices of the 2nd mobility in Helsinki, Finland, which was entitled: “Learning outside the classroom”, implemented outdoor activities in the school yard. More specifically, they carried out an individual activity, during which the students of A1, A2 and B3 were asked to recall a positive experience they had in nature with all their senses and share it with the whole class. Then, they were divided into pairs and one of the two students, with their eyes closed and through touch and smell, had to find out what their classmate had touched in his/her hand. Then, the fairy tale “The Angry Teddy Bear” was used and the management of negative emotions and how nature can help us in this direction was discussed. Finally, in order to evaluate the above activities and with the help of educational applications on tablets and laptops, students participated in interactive quizzes.

The aim of the above activities was for students to strengthen their relationship with nature, to understand the status of man as part of nature and to find alternative ways of managing negative emotions through nature.

This exemplary teaching was attended by the teachers: Eva Kanellopoulou PE21, Kyriaki Aktypi PE88.01, Konstantina Noula PE30 and George Tsagas PE22.
