Specifically, this mobility included a preparatory visit by the Director of the school unit, Mr. Spyridon Psarras and work observation by the members of the pedagogical team Erasmus+ , the deputy director Mr. Panagiotis Kotopoulos, Mrs. Georgia Gianara, Mrs. Ekaterini Stamatelatou, Mrs. Irene Katsavarou, Mr. Evangelos Haritos and Mrs. Asimina Riga. This mobility enhanced the exchange of good practices with the French Partners. More specifically:

  1. It reinforced everyone’s belief in the importance of regular interdisciplinary dialogue (on a weekly basis) and the joint identification of each student’s goals and intervention programme.
  2. She promoted as good practice the observation and participation of the psychologist in the child’s activities outside the classroom (in the child’s home environment).
  3. It showed the importance of the special education teacher to shape the weekly schedule of each child (number of teaching hours, choice of lessons, individual or small group support, etc.) according to the needs of the child and after discussion with the students. In addition, the following were identified as good practices in special education structures in France:
  4. Each section is attended by students of different classes (multi-grade section) depending on their abilities and learning needs.
  5. Inside the classroom, in addition to the teacher, there are teaching assistants with a supporting and facilitating role.
  6. In all lessons, the subject matter is differentiated according to the abilities and learning needs of the children.
  7. Parents/guardians can meet the multidisciplinary team on a weekly basis for an update on a predetermined day and time.
  8. Possibility of a professional perspective through the practical laboratory knowledge they already acquire from school & the connection with the labour market, such as Hotel Restaurant Olympe (a hotel-restaurant where people with disabilities work).
  9. Adequate space and logistical infrastructure, especially to enhance the teaching of laboratory courses, are essential for the smooth and effective operation of the Laboratories.

Outdoor learning in the Waterfront of Ano Kastritsi

An exciting learning experience was had by students of the A1 and B9 classes at Neromana in Ano Kastritsi. The visit began with a hike, starting from the village square at the temple of the Holy Forty. Following the signposted path we arrived at a plateau in the area, where the students, after eating breakfast, engaged in playful outdoor learning activities on the theme of Spring and the five senses. The action was based on the good practices that the members of the Erasmus+ pedagogical team learned during their training in Finland and specifically in the Training Programme of the organisation Europass Teacher Academy with the title: “Learning outside the classroom in Finland”. They were then asked to focus their attention on a part of the natural environment that they like a lot and photograph it in order to participate in a photography competition on aquatic ecosystems in the framework of the Action Plan ““Participate and Contribute” and the Environmental Programme entitled: “I volunteer for the environment and sustainability”.

Teachers participated in the action: Nikolaos Theodorides, Asimina Riga and Eleftheria Tsola.

Completed the 2nd mobility of the E.E.E.EK. ACHAIAS in Finland

Members of the Erasmus+ pedagogical team of the Laboratory of Special Vocational Education (SPE) of Achaia, aiming at further professional development and improvement of its teaching practices, attended a European Training Programme (courses) in the framework of the European Erasmus+ programme in Helsinki, Finland (31/3/24 to 6/4/24). More specifically, the aim of this mobility was the attendance and active participation in the Training Programme of the Europass Teacher Academy entitled: “Learning outside the classroom in Finland”. The participants of the project had the opportunity to learn how to design and implement learning outside the classroom in a meaningful, fun and safe way. They were taught the basic principles and benefits of outdoor learning, as according to research studies, learning outside the classroom offers students a real learning experience, exciting and different for students compared to conventional teaching! Learning outside the classroom also improves student engagement, boosts motivation and enthusiasm and promotes curiosity, creativity and critical thinking. In addition, it offers health and well-being benefits: it increases students’ self-confidence and resilience and promotes students’ social skills, team interaction and good classroom behaviour.

In the near future, the knowledge and experience will be disseminated to all the teachers of our school.

On Tuesday 19 March 2024, a teaching visit with students from sections A1, A2, A3 and B3 took place at Arsakeio Primary School for the joint implementation of group collaborative-experiential activities on School Violence and Inclusion. The action took place within the framework of the Action Plan “I participate and offer” in order for the students to develop communication and cooperation skills with the students of the Arsakeio Primary School and through the fairy tale “Lisette, the Polar Bear” and the dramatization of the main character (victim) of the story and the other protagonists (perpetrator, observers, parents) to experience hypothetical situations, so that they can discover and list ways of dealing with bullying and show respect for diversity in the school environment.

The students were led and accompanied by the coordinator of the Action Plan, Mrs. Asimina Riga PE02 and Mrs. Iphigenia Avramopoulou PE08.
